The work I’ve done with Lucia is at my disposal forever. It is a once-in-a-lifetime investment that will pay dividends for the rest of my career.

I have worked with Lucia to Discover my Superpowers and Reset programmes. Both have allowed me to spot when my career is not providing me with what I need to thrive, the action I need to take to change that, and when it is time to move on, potentially saving years of agonising.

My career was well and truly stuck. I’d been marking time until I retired before finding Lucia. I wanted to look back with no regrets and since I hated what I did - I needed to do something different.

Working through Lucia’s methods and exercises gave me explanations for all sorts of things over the course of my career. Some came naturally and were enjoyable, and some were very challenging.

My future looks completely different now. I've got a very different outlook. I have a new focus and clarity about the way forward. I can almost see a colour change ahead in my life. I feel energised. I was stuck at a crossroads. As I grew older, I began to realise that there are less people like me, around my age, in the business. I was feeling almost paralysed by the decisions ahead of me. I didn’t want to do what I’ve always done so I needed some help.

A year ago I decided to invest properly in working out what I wanted to do with the last 15 years of my career journey. I worked with Lucia to help me straighten out some of the loops that I was going through that stopped me moving on.

When we had finished I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do which matched up with my values, my strengths and my preferences.

After making this investment I did nothing with it for a while until my current role became at risk. When I started to look for my next step all of the work with Lucia clicked into place, it made my next role search more targeted, my pitch stronger, my strengths more evident and my passion at interview clear.

In terms of research on your personally, I listened to several of your guest interviews on podcasts and I felt that you were business-minded yet real. Some of your comments resonated deeply with me and they closed the deal.

During the process, I felt that you really listened and dug deep into my answers. I felt engagement and a real desire to do a good job for me. Even though I felt some skepticism initially, I feel certain that you have found my Superpowers. I was very surprised by one - but it made SO much sense and the others made me feel validated and liberated.

I now feel inspired and ready to move on. I've thought for years that I have nothing left in me and that I'm totally disinterested in my work. You've made me realise that this is so far from the truth.

If I can achieve what I've achieved so far in a job I dislike, imagine what I can do in work that I love!"

What felt like a crisis [my redundancy] last summer now feels like a golden opportunity to do what I now know I want to do.

We are often driven by fear…fear of change, of taking too many risks or of looking stupid. The big takeaway for me is that what I fear most is not doing what I really want to do. And I don’t fear that much else. The biggest failure is not to try.

On the horizon I can see the chance of real fulfillment and I’m having fun.

I realised I’d forgotten what I’m good at and what I’m not good at, what I actually enjoy or don’t enjoy!

I now find myself making decisions and designing activities so that they can be more enjoyable.

I think I had an expectation that there would be a moment, where I’d have an epiphany, a moment when I’d discover “OMG, I’ve always wanted to be an X” and I felt a bit of a failure for not knowing the answer.

One of my major learnings is that this type of change is a process. It’s not about looking for that thunderclap moment. I can now see a direction I want to go in and a path towards it.

My main takeaway from working with Lucia is the release of the blame or harshness I’ve attributed to myself around wrong career moves, situations or organisations I’ve found myself in. That de-coupling of emotion from the situation has been really helpful in allowing me to look at the kind of work that will allow me to operate at my best.

The field of opportunity has really opened up for me to use my talents in lots of different ways that could be much more fulfilling.

Sometimes in life we are lucky to experience serendipitous moments. For me such a moment was reading Lucia’s excellent book X-Change, that led me to get in touch, and from this it was very clear that Lucia was the perfect partner to work with on my second half reinvention. Lucia is a natural and talented coach, who has helped me cut through the noise, get clear, and work out options to move forward. I am someone who puts a lot of store in results, so Lucia’s approach is perfect for me. More than this, what I think really makes the difference is that Lucia is authentic, pragmatic, engaging and warm. I look forward to our sessions because they are positive and enjoyable.

After feeling stuck in my role for some time, one weekend I devoured most of Lucia’s website and then dropped an email saying Helllpppp!!!!

And help is exactly what Lucia did, beyond anything I could have imagined. I signed up to Lucia’s Superpowers programme, a 1-1 series of sessions with some extremely deep-dive exercises in between that really get to the nub of the key things you need to be doing in your every day work to thrive and also the “kryptonite” you need to reduce as much as possible to let those superpowers rise to the surface. Before I even got to the mega 3 hour 1-1 with Lucia which I can only describe as your own long LP version of Desert Island Discs, I had found so many a-ha moments, career highlights I had forgotten that that I realised were at the heart of what gave me work-joy, how positive patterns of behaviour that had been ingrained as a part of me since childhood were now missing and how for me, work could never be “just a job” and that I had been trying to kid myself of that for a while.

By the time the whole programme was finished, not only did I have my amazingly detailed Superpowers document - I felt I had regained 3 things, my confidence, my vision and my sparkle and that was the one thing I had said to Lucia at the start that I was desperate to regain.

I have so much energy and so many ideas in my head. I also have the clarity to do what I do well with those ideas, to creatively think through them, to explore all the possibilities and then to start putting some of those ideas into realities.

I was a natural sceptic about coaching / change enablers … I fear there are some charlatans in the business. Once we met I was reassured that you came with experience, a proven approach and were, well frankly, on a normal spectrum … “no weird floaty stuff here” I thought. Your midlife unstuck commentary really resonated with me … as someone who was counting down on a weekly basis how many working days I had left to go to meet my financial goals (over 650 days when we met). I knew I had to do something for my mental health and well being and, to be honest, stop wasting the time I have still been blessed with.

Coming off a well oiled treadmill after 30 years working in big IT projects, it takes a safe space and gentle encouragement to start to dream about the possibilities and find the words to describe that. An invaluable process.

I became open to the possibilities of what a new future could look like and really came to believe that achieving a new way of being was actually a real possibility. In the immediate period after taking voluntary redundancy, the benefits of the work we had done really stood me in good stead. I was offered out placement support when leaving my old organisation and I believe without really believing a “new me” was possible, I would have been off applying for jobs looking suspiciously like my old one. You have saved me from 650 working days of big IT project hell.

As well as the possibility of a new me, I am now taking steps to making that possibility a reality … the work we did in plotting out a course with timelines and options was really helpful.

I think anyone who is not entirely happy with their current working world would benefit from working with you … even if they are not imminently able to make a change, I think taking some time with you to mull over possibilities would be super helpful … it can take a wee while to realise and believe that a change is possible so I would say it is a very worthwhile investment in a more fulfilled and happy future.

Lucia, As you know, on 17th March 2020, the phone stopped ringing and my business died. It's half way through October and I thought you might like to know that I'm on track to DOUBLE LAST YEAR'S REVENUE!
