The Kindness Networking Challenge - are you in?

Has it been a while since you remembered your favourite work-life friends from the past?

This five day challenge will re-awaken your network - in ways that the remainder of your career needs.

Dates: Mon 7th to Friday 11th Sept

Join this free challenge and set yourself up to reconnect with some of your favourite people from your past in less than 10 minutes per day.

Is career longevity on your mind?

Two ideas to consider:

  1. Most people I speak to, in their 40s and 50s, want to work well into their 60s.

But if the current trends prevail (ageism in recruitment, age-bias in selection algorithms and AI decision-making about hiring) working into our 60s seems less possible.

  1. 75% of all senior roles never even get advertised publicly.

Which means that 75% of roles are secured via personal contacts. Not via personal contacts they hate. New roles are found via recommendations from personal contacts they like, rate, respect and keep in touch with.

I know, you’re busy. And maybe you have strong feelings about traditional networking? Me too…

“Networking”

An awful word. Makes me itchy just thinking about it. We’re not talking about expanding your “LinkedIn contacts”.

We’re talking about caring about a small-but-mighty group of folks from your past. In speedy ways - that don’t make you itchy.

“Kindness”

We’re not talking about “reaching out” when you need something…like a job! Not “making contact” with someone you can use in future.

We’re talking about remembering people, when we don’t need anything at all. Just showing you care, as a human.

  • “I used to hate 'networking' but this...this I want to do."

  • “I'm introverted so traditional networking used to freak me out. Lucia's method is light and easy.”

  • “I door opened for me that I had never imagined would exist for me - because of a kindness droplet."

  • “Once you start, you can't stop.”

Here’s how the Kindness Networking Challenge works

  • Each day you receive a short video via email, sharing one tiny suggestion of someone from your past to remember. And I’ll also give you a simple suggestion to make it easier.

  • Choose your person.

  • Deliver your little kindness message in a way that feels right for you.

Carry on with your busy day. With a tiny jolt of joy created from deliberately doing something kind, remembering someone special and taking one step closer to having a small and mighty group of forever work-life friends.

  • “Lucia taught me her way of networking ten years ago and I've never applied for a job since."

  • “This kind of networking takes no time, is fun and makes me feel good.”

  • “I moved countries, set up a business and used this way of networking to find my people."

  • “Feels weird at the beginning, because the old way of networking is so painful. But what a refreshing way to do business."

Hey, I’m Lucia Knight

My research and training specialism is the design of deeply satisfying work - as we age.

  • The Research: The Midlife Work-life Satisfaction report

  • The Podcast: The Joy at Work podcast (now in season 4)

In life beyond work, I love to swim, ideally after a sauna. I’m a podcast addict, lift weights and walk the hills of Surrey. I support grief charities and love nothing more than a big conversation, overlooking fields, holding a cold glass of Albarino.

I also spend an inordinate amount of time coaxing my willful hair into complying with socially acceptable standards of presentation. I fail almost daily.
